Prescott travels, while Bradshaw Mountain stays home in playoff action

#11 Prescott (7-3) at #6 Greenway (9-1), 7pm.

The Demons have a well balanced offense and mix it up well between runniung and throwing the ball. Greenway is led by senior quarterback Tyler Duncan (6'1", 180), who has completed 65% of his passes for 2113 yards and 23 touchdowns, with 11 interceptions. Duncan had also rushed for 769 yards and 11 touchdowns. Fullback TJ Murphy (5'8", 190, Sr.), has 861 yards on the ground, averaging 7 yards per carry with 7 TDs. Top receivers are WR Julian Arias (5'10", 165, Sr.) with 44 receptions, 595 yards, and 5 touchdowns. TJ Murphy has come out of the backfield to grab 37 for 304 yards, 3 touchdowns. Senior TE Caden Howen-Hughes (6'3", 230, Sr.) has 34-636,11 TDs, and WR Kolbe Pesnell (5'11, 182, Sr.) has 29-426, 1 TD.

Senior outside Linebacker, Haydon Levenda (5'10, 200, Sr.), leads the team in tackles with 90. Sophmore Brandon Woodland has made 83% of his extra points, but only one of three field goals. The Demons have outscored their opponents 328-169, and have posted two shutouts.

The Badgers will rely heavily on senior quarterback, and top 10 state rusher, Austin Clark (6'3", 200), who has 1805 yards and 23 touchdowns. In the air, he has completed 52% of his passes for 795 yards, 4 touchdowns, 4 interceptions. Sylas Espitia (5'7", 180, Jr.), has rushed for 480 yards and 1 TD. Ean Porter (5'10", 190, Sr.), has 326 yards and 5 touchdowns. The top two receivers each have 12 receptions in Aaron Greene (6'4", 220, Jr.), with 241 yards, 2 TDs, and Dellin Boyd (5'10", 165, Jr.), with 166 yards, and one touchdown.

Defensively, Colton Amos, (5'11", 185, Sr.) who has been lights out all season, leads the team in tackles with 172, and has 5 sacks. Aaron Greene and Garrett Fenderson (6'1", 205, Sr.), will also need to be able to put pressure on the Demons QB. The kicking game should favor the Badgers as sophomore punter Clay Gross (5'11", 145) is averaging 36.5 yards per punt. Bryce Peters (6'1", 175, Sr.), has nailed 90% of his PATs, and is 12-14 in field goals. The Badgers have outscored their opponents 315-188 with one shutout.

There is one common opponent between the two schools this season, and that would be the Bradshaw Mountain Bears. The Demons fell to the Bears 42-20 on September 7th in Prescott Valley, while the Badgers beat the Bears 26-21 in PV, on October 5. The last meeting between the two schools was in 2015, with the Badgers winning 48-0 in Phoenix.

This game has the high potential to be a shootout, as both teams are capable of scoring quickly. If you are not able to make the trip down to Phoenix, then you can listen to broadcast on 1490AM KYCA.

Weather will be perfect with clear skies, and temperatures in the low 70s.

#9 Mingus (8-2) at #8 Bradshaw Mountain (8-2), 7pm.

Depsite Mingus winning the Grand Canyon Region last week, they will travel to Prescott Valley to face Bradshaw Mountain. The Bears come in as the third place team, but still ranked high enough in the AIA rankings to host a first round game.

This is a rematch of a region game played in Cottonwood on October 12, when the Marauders handed the Bears their first loss of the season 28-6. In their first meeting, Mingus held Bradshaw Mountain to only 40 yards on the ground, but the Bears found themselves trying to throw the ball, which is not their strength. Austin Gonzales was forced to throw the ball completing just 10 out of 31 attempts, for 147 yards, 1 touchdown, and 4 interceptions. Fullback Anthony Mata was held to only 7 yards on the ground.

Bradshaw QB Austin Gonzales (6'1", 185, Sr.), played in eight of ten regular season games, has rushed for 354 yards with 2 TDs. He has completed 49% of his passes for 752 yards with 9 touchdowns and 6 interceptions. Anthony Mata (5'8", 180, Sr.), has 1025 yards rushing with 20 touchdowns. Logan Brannan (5'10", 190, Sr.), is also a weapon in the backfield with 455 yards and 6 touchdowns. Ruben Gonzales (5'6", 135, Sr.), leads in receptions with 24 and 4 touchdowns.

Noah Shaver (6'0", 195, Jr.), leads the Bears with 115 tackles, and had 17 in the game at Mingus. Bradshaw Mountain should be well rested after coming off a bye week, having outscored their opponents 352-156.

Antoine Zabala (5'11", 170, Sr.), leads the Marauders with 1801 yards passing for 25 touchdowns, 7 interceptions, and has completed 62%. Alex Nelson (5'10", 170, Sr.), is the leading rusher with 1703 yards and 15 TDs. Zabala's favorite target is (6'3", 175, Sr.), Chaz Taylor, who has 11 touchdowns with 43 receptions.

Middle linebacker Kendrew Streck (6'1", 215, Sr.), has kept things in check for the defense with 146 tackles.

In the first game at Bradshaw Mountain, Zabala threw completed 8 for 120 yards with a TD, and an interception. Nelson carried the ball 36 times for 138 yards and 3 touchdowns.

The Marauders come into this game on a five game winning streak, and have outscored their opponents 355-219.

Look for this game to be a lot closer than the first meeting. The game will most likely be decided by a late score. Bundle up! Game time temps in low 50s, drifitng into the upper 40s by games end, with some light wind. You can listen to the game on 95.9FM The Cloud.

A footnote to the playoffs. Divisions 5 and 6 do not reward region champs with automatic playoff births, while Divison 2, 3, and 4 do. Committees of each region set rules prior to the school year for playoffs in each sport. Also, winning your region does not guarantee a first round home game.
