Badgers Boys Soccer Ends Season on Dissapointing Note Following Loss to Rival Bears

PRESCOTT VALLEY- The sun has set on the season for the Prescott High School men’s soccer team as the Badgers saw their bitter rival Bradshaw Bears walk away with the section trophy after a 3-1 defeat on Wednesday afternoon at Bradshaw Mountain High School.

“We played the best we could and it didn’t work out in the end,” said Badgers sophomore Carlos Rivera. “But hey, we are all brothers and we worked hard together-that’s all that matters.”

The scoring got started in the first half with a goal from Bears’ senior Schyler Cohan assisted by Brandon Fischer. The Bears added one more near the end of the half as Fischer picked up his second assist of the game to aid Ricky Ayala score a goal and increase the Bear lead to two at the end of one half.

In the second half, Victor Torres added a goal to the tally with the help of Ayala. The Bears only allowed one Badger score coming on a penalty kick as Bradshaw Mountain kept control throughout the second half for the victory.

The loss ends the season with a 2-10-1 overall record for Prescott High School with a 2-4 mark in section. The roster only has three graduating seniors, allowing hope for a young team to improve in the upcoming campaigns.

“For next year, we can learn from mistakes and work harder,” Rivera said. “This is just this year, we still have another year to go so we’ll be ready.”

After losing their first nine of ten games to start the season, the Badgers ended with wins in two of their last three games on the year with road victories over Lee Williams and Coconino.
