Grant applications being accepted from non-profits.
The City of Prescott Tourism Office will accept grant applications from non-profit event organizers for requests up to $5,000 in support of events that benefit the City’s tourism efforts. Applications will be accepted from April 14 through May 31, 2017, and will be administered after July 1, 2017.
The Prescott Tourism Office, in association with the Tourism Advisory Committee (TAC) will make the funding available to non-profit organizations hosting multi-day events in Prescott that encourage over-night stays, and bring additional visitors to the City.
There will be a mandatory meeting on May 18 with TAC members, for organizers that have not successfully applied in the past. Those that have successfully applied are still encouraged to attend. The TAC will review all applications in June, and make a recommendation to City Council for approval after July 1.
“The program is designed to assist ongoing events, but also help new events to start up,” said Community Outreach Manager John Heiney. “We will particularly consider multi-day events that have potential to fill hotel beds, and take place outside of our busy summer season.”
Last year 10 organizations received a total of $29,300 from the City’s tourism bed tax fund. This fund is supported by the City’s 3% bed tax, which is collected from hotels inside the City limits.
