Michigan Man Arrested For Armed Robbery

Michigan man was arrested after a reported assault.

On January 14, 2017 at approximately 11:40 AM, Officers responded to the 600 block of Miller Valley Road in reference to an assault in progress. Upon arrival they contacted a local business owner who had been stabbed 3 times with a fixed bladed knife during an Armed Robbery attempt.

The business owner, a 60 year old Prescott resident reported that a customer, later identified as 20 year old Frederick Brunett of Michigan, came into the business and asked to look at an item. As the Victim turned to retrieve the item, Brunett stabbed him on the side of his neck and then twice more near his face and throat. A prolonged struggle ensued and the Victim was able to wrestle the knife away from Brunett and throw it aside. As Brunett was being controlled the Victim tried to call 911. The struggle continued and the Victim struck Brunett several times with a flashlight. Brunett ultimately fled the store on foot.

Officers located Brunett a short time later and placed him under arrest. He was treated for non-life threatening injuries he received during the robbery attempt and was later booked into the Yavapai County Jail for Aggravated Assault and Armed Robbery, both are felonies.

The male victim was treated and released on scene for non-life threatening injuries.
