Take Advantage of These Special Sales

Remember Fry's and Safeway both require their own membership cards for their sale prices. Albertson's does not require cards for sale prices. Safeway also has several items that require coupons, or are only good on certain days.

All three stores have chicken breasts on sale this week for a decent price between $1.67 lb. and $2.00 lb. These can be fixed in various ways, and are great for football playoff days.

Recipes

It's football playoff season, and as we all know, that means lots of snacking.

Tomatoes and Mozzarella

  • 4 Roma tomatoes, chopped into 1/2 inch cubes
  • 1 c. Mozzarella, cut into 1/2 inch cubes
  • 1 slice onion, finely chopped
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • Fresh rosemary and basil, finely chopped
  • Olive oil
  • Sliced baguette

Combine the tomatoes, mozzarella, onion, garlic, rosemary and basil in a bowl. Pour olive oil over the mixture until evenly coated. Salt to taste. Let sit at least an hour to merge the flavors.

Served cold: with the baguettes.

Served hot: Spoon onto baguette slices, and pop under a broiler for a minute or two until the cheese is melted.
