Breezy and Warm This Week

10 October 2017   Dr. Curtis James

Temps at near or above normal for this time of year.

A surface cold front pushed southward across the Prescott area early this morning in association with a surface low pressure system over the western Great Plains. As a result, expect breezy to windy conditions today and temperatures below normal. The low pressure system and front were formed by divergent airflow in advance of an upper-level trough currently located over Utah.

By tomorrow, the upper-level trough will move to our east and a shortwave ridge of high pressure will move across Arizona, bringing lighter wind and above normal temperatures once again. For Wednesday through the coming weekend, a long-wave trough will become situated along the West Coast, with a west-southwesterly subtropical jet developing just to our north. This pattern will create mainly breezy conditions for the rest of the week, but skies will remain mostly sunny and temperatures will continue to be near or above normal for this time of year.
