2012 may seem like a long ways down the road, but Yavapai County has
decided to get a jump on planning the celebration of Arizona’s
Centennial. The county invited local government officials, citizens,
interested agencies and organizations to the Prescott Rodeo Grounds
last Wednesday to brainstorm possibilities and ideas.
Last spring, seven-year-old Ryan Hadley walked all night in the Relay
for Life fundraiser to benefit cancer research. Little did Ryan or his family know,
but he had cancer too.
Poets Mary Bragg, Dee Hamilton, Susan McElheran and Susan DeFreitas are
local poets collectively known as the Mad Women Poets. They've been
together five years and have published an anthology of their work
titled The Woman Beside You. On Saturday, they shared their poetry and expertise with women interested in the craft.
It's an excelling school, so how can it be that PHS did NOT meet the AYP determinations? All the PUSD schools
are rated above Performing. How can they Excel and yet not
meet AYP standards?
Today the Prescott City Council called a special meeting to go into
Executive Session, to discuss the possible Development Agreement with
Granite Dell Estates, owned by Mike Fann. Has an agreement been
reached? Hopefully, that will be revealed at the next Study Session on
October 16.
Ole Griffith, born in Pittsburg, spent his early years in and around
Pennsylvania, his military years all over the world, and his last three
and a half decades based in Phoenix, Arizona. Fascinated by and engaged
in aviation throughout his life, Griffith has been privileged to meet
many of his early heroes and larger than life aviation personalities
and other notables. At Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University’s DLC
Auditorium on Thursday, October 18, at 7 PM, Griffith shares a well
mixed, multi-media program on the 1942 Doolittle Raid on Japan and
video of the 65th Raiders’ Reunion. Everyone is welcome at this free, public event.
