October Best Time For 'Not So Spooky' Book

02 October 2017
The latest book by cartoonist Joe Banaszkiewicz

Cartoonist releases third in the 'Gosford the Ghost' series

If you like books, cartoons in books, and with a twist of friendly spookiness, then I have the book for you. "Gosford, Guess Boos Coming To Dinner", is being released this Saturday, October 7. It is the third book in the 'Gosford the Ghost' series by animation guru Joe Banaszkiewicz, who says of his latest edition, "It's about 46 pages (kidding) - It's really about true friends (yeah one's a ghost) that really rely on each other and they are so dedicated that they help each other out no matter how difficult the situation is."  I asked him how he got into this line of work. "I was really bad at sports and other scholarly subjects did not speak to me, but drawing just came naturally to me."

This is the fifth book he has illustrated and I had to ask what prompted him to create books. "Being in Animation production the book idea was a natural extension of the 'creative impulse'." After all, he has had plenty of experience. I have known Joe for a very long time and he has just that gift of creating something out of nothing. Joe had a lot of 'training' in junior high and high school. Teacher and student illustrations became a staple at his schools. His professional career started with Alf Tales, followed by Beany and Cecil, and Tiny Toons. He has spent years working for Disney and Warner Brothers, along with some work on Clifford The Big Red Dog, House of Mouse, Johnny Test, and even The Simpsons.

My take on the book is that it is an easy read, and has a lot to offer children ages 6-13. It is by no means scary, but offers a seasonal look at something kids get into in the month of October, which is Halloween. The artistry in the book is excellent and demands your attention, not to mention a good lesson for children to learn. Kids at heart will also find this book entertaining. I highly suggest you check it out.

The other two selections in the 'Gosford The Ghost' series are 'Gosford The Ghost Pun n Fun' and 'Gosford the Ghost Gets His Boo Back'.

Joe had one final thing to add, he said, "Listen to your calling, or as author Joseph Campbell always said, 'Follow your bliss.'
