The Gallup-Share Care organization has ranked Prescott Ninth in the United States for overall well-being, and fourth in the community category of the survey.
According to the study, the State of American Well-Being Index series ranks 186 communities. The report analyzes how well-being varies by community and across five elements:
Purpose: liking what you do each day and being motivated to achieve your goals
Social: having supportive relationships and love in your life
Financial: managing your economic life to reduce stress and increase security
Community: liking where you live, feeling safe, and having pride in your community
Physical: having good health and enough energy to get things done daily
Prescott finished in the top 10 in the Social and Financial categories, and top 20 in Purpose and Physical categories.
According to an online article in KTAR News in Phoenix, “The Central Arizona city of Prescott is well-known for its active downtown bar scene known as Whiskey Row. Watson Lake, in the northeast part of the city is home to many species of wildlife and a vast circuit of trails.”
Prescott Mayor Greg Mengarelli said that he is thrilled with this ranking. “This speaks very highly of Prescott and our overall quality of life,” he said. “We are blessed to have so many wonderful assets here – our mild climate, our hundreds of miles of trails, our diverse and active cultural scene, and a caring network of organizations dedicated to wellness. This study goes very in-depth, and Prescott ranks highly in all categories. We should all be very proud.”
