Spencer Campbell, #66, celebrates as Skyler Schiller, #8 crosses the goal line.
Beneitone's comments proved to be true, as the first thing that the Sandra Day O'Connor Eagles did was to score a touchdown, four minutes into the game. Danny Davis lived up to Beneitone's words, as he proved to be resourceful and elusive. Just a few seconds into the second quarter, the Eagles scored again, making the score 0-14. Prescott Badgers fans began to feel some concern.
But, after the second Eagle touchdown, the Badgers seemed to figure out what adjustments were needed, with Chris Shipp carrying the ball for their first touchdown at the 8:06 mark of the second quarter. The Eagles blocked the kick for the extra point, holding the score at 6-14, where it would remain until halftime.
Taking the field in the third quarter, the Badgers defense did a good job of containing the Eagles. And with just under five minutes to go in the quarter, Jake Jarvis, #23, carried the ball across the goal line for a touchdown, bringing the score to 12-14. Jarvis also made the two point conversion, tying the game.
After that, the momentum definitely seemed to swing in the direction of the Badgers. Less than three minutes later, Jarvis again scored a touchdown. With a good kick, the score was 21-14, in favor of the Badgers.

The first thirty seconds of the fourth quarter was rather eventful, as the Badgers would scored a touchdown, on quarterback Josh Chavez's 72-yard touchdown pass to Skyler Schiller. With the extra point, that brought the score to 28-14. And, right after that, on the kickoff return, the Eagles fumbled the ball, which was recovered by the Badgers. Although the Badgers moved the ball down the field, they lost possession on downs and did not score. Shortly after that, about halfway through the quarter, the Eagles fumbled the ball on a snap, which Prescott recovered for a change in possession.
The Eagles tried to score during the rest of the game, but by this time, the Badgers defense was in a rhythm and easily kept the Eagles from the goal line, ensuring a victory for the Badgers with the final score of 28-14.
This was the last home game for the Prescott Badgers within the regular season, and it is a traditional time to honor the senior players on the team. Before the game started, each senior player and cheerleader was escorted to the field by moms, dads, grandparents and other relatives.
This win puts the Badgers in first place in the Western Sky League , and it is expected they will make the playoffs.
One more note: The Prescott Badgers cheerleaders had a little extra help, as the Mile High Blue Angels Cheer & Tumbling Minis joined them during the first quarter. They will also perform at all three area high school basketball games throughout the season. If you are interested in the Blue Angels program, you can speak with Elizabeth at 443.0604.
Lots of kudos to the Prescott Cheerleaders for their enthusiasm and spirit all season!
