Well, you've probably noticed, but we've been going through some changes here at Prescott eNews, and we thought it was time to fill you in on some of the highlights.
A New Look!
First of all, we've got a whole new look and layout. This particular change has been several months in the making, and we're still tweaking a few things here and there. We've tried to make sure the site loads faster (there are a lot of images, so it will never be instantaneous, I'm afraid) and is more efficient. We also moved to a new server, which is a whole lot quicker to respond. So, all in all, we're pretty pleased with our results with that.
We also tried to bring important information to the home page, where it is easy for you to find. Here's a little guide:
Featured: These stories are those you might miss, or seem important enough that we want to call a little extra attention to it, or hold it for a day or two longer.
Bill's Daily Roundup and Week in Review: Bill's articles get their very own box directly below the Featured pieces, so you'll always be able to find him.
Below that is our Featured Video or Photo. Just things we thought you might like to see!
News From Nearby Communities: Here we pull in the headlines from Chino Valley eNews and also Prescott Valley eNews. Some of the stories are the same on the 3 eNews sites, but some are community specific. You might find information that's on one of these sites you'd like to read.
The first item in the second column is an item we call, "Notes to Reader", where we can tell you about important and breaking information, or maybe just something we think you'll find of interest. Be sure to check that out frequently. It might change two or three times a day, or it might stay the same for three or four days.
Next, is the Calendar. You can add new events yourself, just click on the link. Events need approval, so they won't show up instantly, but we'll do our best to approve it on a daily basis.
Below that are Local Links of Interest. Can't remember the City of Prescott website? No problem, we've got it right here for you. And more!
Looking for the Search Box? It's on the far right. above the Poll. Since we've made so many changes, there's a chance that your past bookmarks may not work. No problem, the article is still there, just do a search for one of the key words in the title, and you should be able to find it quickly. If you really get stuck, send an email to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it and we'll find it and send you the proper link.
And, finally, let's not ignore our advertisers and sponsors. Without them, we couldn't keep this site going, so please, go visit them, buy their products and tell them THANKS from Prescott eNews!
Back to Our Roots
There's been a lot of political debate lately about some very tough issues. The question is, how do we settle those issues? Some folks think it's time we stop to remember where we came from, what our country's foundation is. So, in the bottom right corner of the home page, we're placing a Constitutional Quote of the Day and a Bible Verse of the Day. They'll change every day, so be sure to take a look and see what is there each day. We offer them without any comment or editorializing, but there is a link to see the source, in case you're interested in the larger context.
If those quotes happen to inspire you, or make you stop and reflect - maybe even disagree - you are welcome to discuss them on a comment page. Click on the link directly below the quotes to get to the discussion page.
Remember When...
Do you remember when authors published their works as a regular series of articles in newspapers and similar publications? We thought it would be fun to bring back that tradition, too, but we have our own little twist on it. Instead of publishing new books, we're digging around to find works that are in the public domain that just might be of interest to our readers.
Our first book is titled, "Vanished Arizona" by Martha Summerhayes. Summerhayes was the wife of an Army Lieutenant in the 1870's when she and her hubby were sent to the Arizona Territory to help keep the peace. Each Sunday we'll bring you the next chapter, where you will see a fascinating Arizona through a 140-year-old time warp. In this period, there were only about 20,000 people across Arizona, and there weren't even any railroad tracks laid yet. Getting from Wyoming to Arizona proved to be quite a chore!
We hope you enjoy Vanished Arizona. And if you have other suggestions or requests, please let us know! You can find the installments under the Features menu in the Extra, Extra! category.
A Little Bit of Fun, Too
I can still see my dad working on the word Jumble or the crossword puzzle in the mornings over a cup of coffee. And when Prescott eNews was a rather new website, we used to run a crossword puzzle every Sunday. But, certain things proved to be very unsatisfactory, and we discontinued the practice after a period of time.
We're awfully pleased to announce that the Sunday Crossword Puzzle is back, and it's better than ever. You can fill it in right on the site, get hints and check to see if you're right.
These puzzles are exclusive to eNewsAZ sites - you won't find them anywhere else! We may also toss in some Word Searches from time to time.
For our advertisers and wanna-be advertisers, you should ask us how crossword puzzles can benefit you! For more information, send an email to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it
Find the crosswords in the Extra, Extra! category.
We've All Gotta Eat, Right?
We all need to eat, and how better to do that than with cost effective, nutritious meals? We've offered recipes and cooking tips before, but now you'll find everything under the new "Food" category, which is also under the Features menu.
Here you can expect to see some great recipes from a variety of sources, as well as time and money saving tips to help make sure your budget keeps on a diet, too.

Finding the Right College
Look for a mini-series on how to find the right college. It'll be coming this week, and we think you'll find the unique approach helpful if you or your son or daughter is in the middle of making that critical decision right now. It will be under the Education menu in Education News.
Well, that's enough for the moment, but you can be absolutely, positively certain that we're not done looking for ways to bring more and more great features to our readers. Got a suggestion or a kudos? Add them to the comments (that's another future article) below...
