On November 12, 2011, the Prescott Police Department, Prescott Valley Police Department, and the Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office conducted a Tri-city Taskforce saturation patrol in conjunction with Veteran’s Day weekend holiday.
Funding provided by the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety (GOHS) and its director, Alberto Gutier, was utilized allowing specially assigned law enforcement personnel to conduct this operation. The taskforce assembled a centralized command post in the parking lot of Costco, located on State Route 69, for processing drivers suspected of driving impaired.
The Tri-city DUI Taskforce would like to extend a special thank you to Costco, for the food they provided and the use of their parking lot during this operation, and Buffalo Wild Wings, located in Prescott Valley, for the food and beverages they provided.
Following is a list of activity as a result of the saturation patrol:
- Nine (9) participating officers and deputies
- Forty-five (45) traffic stops
- Five (5) identified designated drivers
- One (1) extreme DUI arrest
- One (1) aggravated DUI arrest
- Five (5) total misdemeanor DUI arrests
- .166 average BrAC
- Two (2) seatbelt citations
- Four (4) drug influence evaluations
- Forty-eight (48) other citations
As always, the Tri-city DUI Taskforce would like to stress to drivers the dangers of driving impaired and remind everyone that the Tri-city DUI Taskforce will continue to operate high profile enhanced DUI enforcement throughout the year. Drivers are reminded to make good choices year round, especially during this holiday season.
