The FBI has developed an App for the iPhone to help in the event of a lost or missing child.

You're shopping at the mall with your children when one of them suddenly disappears. A quick search of the nearby area is unsuccessful. What do you do?

The FBI has just launched a Child ID software application (also known as app) for the iPhone and can only be downloaded for free from the App Store on iTunes. The FBI plans to expand this tool to other types of mobile devices in the months to come. This application provides a convenient place to electronically store photos and vital information about your children so that it's literally right at hand if you need it and it can be updated often. You can show the photos and provide physical identifiers such as height, weight, hair and eye color to security or police officers immediately. There is also a tab you can use to quickly e-mail the information to authorities. The application includes tips on keeping children safe as well as specific guidance on what to do in those first few crucial hours after a child goes missing.

In America a child goes missing every 40 seconds. Many never return home. We encourage you to share the word about this application with family and friends. Put your child’s safety in your own hands. Download the FBI Child ID app today.
