Tony Palermo, a Crime Prevention Specialist with the Prescott Police Department’s Crime Prevention Team was awarded “Volunteer of the Year” for the Arizona Department of Public Safety (DPS), Office of the Director, Management Services Bureau. Tony serves in the DPS Office of Emergency Management.
With an extensive background in emergency management, law enforcement and volunteer activities, Tony helped to establish and recruit the emergency management volunteer team for DPS. This team provides services to all departments within DPS with emergency logistics support, Mobile Command Van readiness, NIMS resource typing of all emergency equipment and radiation monitoring for members of the Highways Patrol.
In addition to his duties at DPS, Tony was the 2010 Volunteer of the Year at the Prescott Police Department serving over 500 hours with the national award winning Crime Prevention Team. Together with Traces Gordon and Domenick Negri, the team has won the National Night Out award for 2009 and 2010 from the National Association of Town Watch. Prescott is the only city in AZ to currently hold this award.
