Park bench protest ends up being more of a discussion and update.
About 60 people came out to Granite Creek Park on Sunday to protest the possible removal of a park bench being built by Prescott College student Kristin Anthony. Kristin explained the sequence of events from her perspective and many people gave her statements of support and suggestions as to how to proceed. Kristin remained calm and explained that she is still trying to work with City of Prescott officials to save her project. She stated that the City has asked her to present a written proposal responding to their concerns regarding safety, stability and functionality. She hopes to give her plan to the City on Tuesday.
In other park bench news, the grandmother of the 19 month old baby girl to whom the tree was dedicated visited the project on Monday. She said she had two concerns before visiting, the safety of the tree and the placement of the dedication plaque. She said that now that she has seen the bench she is quite satisfied that her issues have been addressed. She said the friends and family of the baby would be happy to see such a beautiful and useful bench around their tree.
