The Prescott National Forest fire managers plan to burn approximately 150 acres of accumulated slash piles today through Friday, January 14, weather comditions permitting.
Debbie Maneely, Public Affairs Officer for the Prescott National Forest specifies, "The piles are located east of Ponderosa Park (T13N, R2W, S29) and south of Jack Pine Road (T13N, R2W, S16, 20).
" Specific days to burn are determined by current and expected weather patterns. Depending on conditions, any of the areas may be treated during the 4 day period. These piles will be monitored and allowed to completely burn themselves out. Smoke may be visible in the surrounding areas."
Additionally, Prescott area residents can expect more burning of slash piles at the nature Center on Williamson Valley Road, starting tomorrow, Tuesday, January 11, reports Prescott Division Chief Eric Kriwer. The burning is expected to start at approximately 10 am, and since the piles will be allowed to burn out by themselves, smoke may be visible after dark, according to Kriwer.
