Update:

The victim from the shooting incident earlier has been identified as 49 year old Edward Mitchell of Prescott Valley.

Investigators have recovered a small caliber handgun on the scene that is believed to have been involved in the death.

On January 25, 2012 Prescott Valley Police responded to 6717 2nd St. for a shooting.

A caller called 911 and reported that a person had been accidentally shot in the head. 

Officers detained an adult male walking away from the scene and he is being interviewed by investigators.

Officers located the victim, identified only as an adult male, inside a suite that appeared to be under renovations or construction.  He had trauma to his head area. 

Emergency personnel responded for the victim, but he was pronounced dead on scene.

At this time investigators are working to piece together what happened and led to the death of this individual.
