Embry-Riddle Eagles Will Race in First Athletic Event since March

Athletics as we know it have changed for the time being at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (Ariz.), most of the sports programs are sidelined until the Spring of 2021 but there is a glimmer of hope on the horizon. No. 5 men’s cross country and No.20 women’s cross country will compete in the first athletic event since March 10 when they run at the Hawks XC Invitational hosted by San Diego Christian College on Saturday.

As one of the few low-risk sports programs in the athletic department, the teams’ training started in early September and have been pushing each other to the best of their abilities. Both teams are loaded with returning speed and bring back all but one of their combined top-five.

The race takes place in Santee, California at 8:15 am PT. Each individual athlete is screened before the race and will maintain physical distance until the race begins. Teams need to return to their “camps” immediately after the race and will maintain a safe distance from others. ERAU screens their athletes prior to leaving campus and upon arrival from California.
