Eagles Women's Soccer Shutout Sierra Nevada College In Route to Seventh Straight Win

PRESCOTT- The Embry Riddle Eagles women’s soccer team won their seventh game in a row on Saturday, October 15th, against Sierra Nevada College 5-0 as Embry Riddle continues to hold the top spot in the CALPAC conference with the season winding down.

“We feel pretty good where we are at, we are just trying to work on our consistency both defensively and on the offensive side of things,” Eagles’ head coach Todd Poitras said. “We are starting to build confidence as we wind down conference and head into the conference tournament.”

After 14 minutes of deadlock, the Eagles opened the scoring on a goal by sophomore forward Jennifer Ruth, assisted by Krista Lee.

“We were a little sluggish to start, maybe kind of feeling out the other team,” Poitras said. “Once we got that goal, it kind of opened up our attack and gave us more confidence. They (Sierra Nevada College) actually began to sit back and defend more, which played into our ability to get in behind them.”

The Eagles would go on to receive goals from Riley Martinson and Lee to end the first half with Maddy Markham and Adri Jackson adding two additional goals in the second half to secure the victory.

“We are never satisfied, we always want more as a team,” Ruth said. “It just kind of shows our mentality.”

Eagles’ senior goalkeeper Emily Lambert played the entire 90 minutes in goal, saving her only opportunity.

The Embry Riddle Eagles (11-3, 4-0 CALPAC) have four games remaining in the regular season starting with La Sierra University on the road  Friday, October 20th, at 2:00 pm.
