It's Time for the Boot Drop!
Featured

31 December 2017

It’s happening tonight - the Prescott iconic celebration of the New Year.

The streets of Whiskey Row will be hoppin’ tonight with music, fireworks, dancing and, of course, the Boot Drop.

The Boot is already in place, ready and waiting for tonight’s festivities. Here’s what you need to know:

Activities start at 8 PM in downtown Prescott, and will wind down by 12:30 AM on New Year’s Day.

  • Montezuma Street in front of Whiskey Row will be blocked off from Gurley to Goodwin Streets.
  • The Boot will drop at 10 PM and again at midnight.
  • Each Boot Drop will be followed by fireworks.
  • There is no charge to attend.
  • Food vendors will be available on the street. Plus, other entities such as Matt’s Saloon and the Palace will be open. So, you may want to bring a few bucks for that.
  • Parking is free - if you can find it, that is! The Parking Garage will be open, although the upper level will be blocked off for fireworks.
  • Drew Ryn will be performing after the 10 PM Boot Drop.

In addition to Drew, DJ Eddie will be spinning your favorite tunes, to get you rockin’ and dancing.

Temperatures should be in the 30’s, but it will be dry. So, bundle up!

About that Boot

It took a little over an hour this year to get the boot installed on the rooftop pole at the Palace Hotel. A team of several people and a crane operator is needed. Matt Brassard, from Matt's Saloon, is the organizer of this task.

  • The Boot weighs about 100 lbs.
  • It is manually raised up and down by pulleys.
  • The lights are battery operated and remote-controlled.
  • When the Boot isn’t watching over downtown Prescott, it is a featured item at the Enchanted Christmas venue at Gateway Mall.

Here are some photos from this year’s raising of the Boot!
