Vehicle fire caused by cigarette.

On Monday evening at about 9:45 PM, Prescott Fire Dept. dispatch received a 911 call for a car fire on highway 69 in the Walker Road area. Initial arriving fire units on scene found a full-size Dodge pickup truck with smoke and flames coming from the inside of the occupant compartment. A hose line was pulled by that engine and the fire was extinguished. The sole occupant of the truck, who was uninjured, stated that he was in the process of lighting a cigarette when he had to make a faster than normal stop. The cigarette then dropped onto a bag igniting the bag and contents which quickly spread to the truck's interior. The Dodge pickup truck is considered a total loss.
