On June 16, 2017 at about 10 AM, Prescott fire department dispatch received a call for a defective appliance at the Door and Window Store on EZ Street in Prescott. The initial arriving unit found a sawdust collection machine that was fully involved in smoke and flames that was attached to the exterior of the building. That unit then called for a commercial structure assignment. At the time the Prescott fire department had five engines and about 15 personnel that were committed to the structure fire and had CAFMA fire engines from Chino Valley and Prescott Valley covering medical emergency calls within the Prescott city limits.
The fire had extended into a series of ducts throughout the store and fire crews stayed on scene until 2:30 PM with one engine leaving at about 5:30 PM that was working to isolate any remaining fire within the ductwork. The damage throughout the store was estimated to be about $50,000 on the million dollar property.
