Last Friday, February 03, 2017, Mathleague.org sponsored its annual Northern Arizona Math Competition at Prescott High School.
BASIS Prescott brought a contingent of twenty-four mathematicians from grades 6-8. Area schools as well as several schools from Phoenix participated in the competition, bringing the total number of participants to 158.
BASIS Prescott earned 1st overall in the competition with 20 of its 24 students earning placement in the Top Ten!
6th Grade: Nine of ten students placed in the top ten: 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th, 9th and 10th
7th Grade: Seven of ten students placed in the top ten: 1st, 2nd, 4th, 7th, 8th, 9th and 10th
8th Grade: All 4 students placed in the top 10: 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th
Sixth grader, Ivan Marriot, had the individual high score for all grades. This is the first time in AZ Mathleague.org history that a sixth grader has earned the overall championship at a middle school math competition.
Finally, a seventh grade team earned first place in the logic test. This is a stand-alone event and is not included in a school’s or individual’s overall score.
Congratulations to all!
