12 December 2014

Ginger is alive because of the Yavapai Humane Society’s no-kill policy.

It’s been a good week for pets in the Prescott area. First, the Beneful Dream Dog Park opened on Wednesday. This $500K project brings a firefighter-themed dog park to Prescott. Now, the Yavapai Humane Society has learned that they are a a winner of the Petco Foundation annual Holiday Wishes grant of $25,000.

According to the press release, "Ginger was discovered blind and paralyzed in one leg after being struck by or falling out of a car—YHS, based on its decision in 2009 to stop euthanizing happy and healthy dogs and cats, took her in and restored her to full health. Today, Ginger can see again.

"To celebrate Yavapai Humane Society’s commitment to animal welfare and its life-saving efforts, a $25,000 grant will be presented by Petco Foundation at an event at 2 PM on Tuesday, Dec. 16 along with a pet food donation of 2,500 meals from  Freekibble.com and Halo, in partnership with the Petco Foundation.
