Board games, hobby horses, and more—just a few of the historically-inspired toys that kids will get to craft for themselves at “Toy-Tastic”, the Sharlot Hall Museum’s first day camp of the year, happening March 16-18. Registration is open, with a few spots left for interested young toymakers.
The camp focuses on introducing kids ages 9-12 to the wonderful world of toy-building, in theme with the Museum’s current temporary exhibit, “Toys! It’s Not All Fun & Games,” open in the Lawler Center. “We’re encouraging kids to rev up their imaginations and put them to work,” says Jenny Pederson, education program manager. “This is the first of our camps this year and we’re excited to start with something as fun as Toy-Tastic.”
The Sharlot Hall Museum plans to host two other camps later in the year. “The Tales that Lay Before Us,” June 20-24, challenges young actors and actresses to expand their thespian skills with mini-plays about Sharlot Hall and the Arizona Territory. “Full STEAM Ahead!”, October 11-14, ties STEAM activities (science, technology, engineering, art, and math) into Arizona history and culture.

The Sharlot Hall Museum, located two blocks west of Prescott’s Courthouse Plaza, is one of Arizona’s premier history museums.
