An astounding 24 dogs and 8 cats found their forever homes on Black Friday, November 25th. Yavapai Humane Society offered a Black Friday deal of $20 adoptions and the public came out in droves. Two of the cats adopted were from the YHS cat adoption center in PetSmart.

“It was all hands on deck, all day long. We had volunteers showing dogs and cats to potential adopters and pulled staff from administration to process adoptions,” says Ed Boks, executive director.

32 is the most adoptions YHS has done in one day in recent memory.

Robin Hennessey, YHS Director of Operations wanted to thank all of the adopters for their patience.  “It was a very festive atmosphere but the sheer volume of adopters slowed us down a bit.  Everyone was so wonderful and excited to take home their new family member. It really lifted the spirits of the staff to see so many of our animals go home in one day.”

“Our goal for the day was 25 and we exceeded all of our expectations.  Walking down the aisles and seeing all of the empty kennels is fantastic,” says Boks.

The Yavapai Humane Society has been serving Yavapai County’s citizens and animals since 1972. YHS has a shelter in Prescott, a Cat Adoption Center in PetSmart, a Thrift Shop and a separate spay/neuter clinic offering low-cost spay/neuters and low-cost vaccinations.  In July of 2010, we adopted a “no-kill” ethic which has led to a 68% decrease in euthanasia.
