Traffic heading towards Prescott on Highway 69 has started using the new bridge. Last night and into early this morning, Arizona Department of Transportation crews closed 69 westbound between Prescott Lakes Parkway and Heather Heights, as well as at the ramp to northbound 89 to shift traffic onto the new alignment. Traffic will be split at the bridge at the highways 89 and 69 intersection, and motorists will need to choose to access Gurley or Sheldon Street at this point. Northbound 89 traffic will be routed under the new bridge and the temporary signal will be removed. Motorists should be aware of these changes to the interchange.

An alleged domestic violence suspect has been arrested in the town of Congress. The 23 year old victim told Yavapai County Sheriff’s Deputies she had been in an argument with her husband, 23 year old Anival Diaz-Moreno at their Aguila home. When she refused to pull over, he began bumping her car. Moreno pulled in front of the vehicle and would not allow her to pass. When she was forced to stop, the suspect struck her in the face and choked her until she escaped. A Sheriff’s Office Sergeant located Moreno at his Congress home. He has been charged with 9 felony counts of aggravated assault.

A Town Council candidate forum will be held tonight. The Chino Valley Chamber of Commerce and the Appaloosa Meadows Homeowners Associations are presenting the forum, which is for the 4 candidates that did not win a seat in the March primary. Candidates are scheduled to arrive at the Town Senior Center at 6 to talk informally with voters. The forum runs from 6:30 to 8 and will be monitored by the League of Women Voters of Central Yavapai County.

Kapp adds one other option involves a reduction of school nurses:

Both Kapp and the Board have expressed frustration over not knowing how deep the District’s cuts will be. The next board meeting is scheduled for May 5th.
