The Republican Women of Prescott (RWOP) will feature Arizona Attorney General Tom Horne at their monthly meeting Tuesday.
RWOP, founded in 1942 will be 70 years old this year. It is one of the oldest Republican Women's club in Arizona, and is, "...dedicated to the conservative principles of the Republican Party," according to their website.
Each month, RWOP invites prominent Republicans in to speak to their membership during their regular luncheon. In January, Attorney General Tom Horne will be the guest speaker, offering a review of the past year in his office, and a preview of the year to come.
According to the Attorney General's website, Horne has served in every branch of Arizona government:
- Executive: State Superintendent of Schools and Attorney General
- Legislative: State Legislature
- Judicial: Judge Pro Tem
- Local: School Board
Horne has been willing to tackle controversial issues head on, including the Raza studies programs, which he first faced as the State Superintendent of Schools. Students reacted to his decision with extreme hostility, as is evident here:

This year, after another review by the current Superintendent John Huppenthal, the Raza studies were discontinued when school districts offering the courses were faced with a significant loss of funding from the state.
