Where: Yavapai College Performance Hall
When: Sunday, April 3 at 3 p.m.
(Prescott) – The Yavapai College Foundation and the Yavapai Symphony are holding a benefit concert on Sunday April 3 at 3 p.m. in the Yavapai College Performance Hall. The concert will feature Lecia Breen, vocalist, and Michael Mahany, pianist, as they perform a “Music Medley,” from jazz to show tunes to classical pieces. Proceeds from the concert will go to a renovation fund for the Performance Hall.
The Performance Hall is celebrating its 20th Anniversary by collecting the funds necessary for a major remodel and re-dedication of the project. Since 1991, the Performance Hall has proudly worn the title of the “Jewel of Prescott.” It is estimated that over 1.2 million people have attended an event at the Hall.
“The Performance Hall has served as the centerpiece of the Quad-Cities community for 20 years. With time and usage, technology and aesthetics change. We are very excited to undertake this project and restore the Performance Hall’s original luster,” said Yavapai College Foundation Vice President Steve Walker.
The $2 million renovation project will provide for the update of lighting, sound and video equipment, installation of motorized riggings, improved ticketing system, new carpeting, and upholstery. An elevator and orchestra pit lift will also be installed. External improvements are also included in the planned renovation.
Tickets can be purchased for $20 from both the Yavapai Symphony Office at 776-4255 and the Performance Hall Box Office at 776-2000. Tickets may also be purchased the day of the event at 2:00 p.m. Students kindergarten age through college are $2.
Doors open at 2:00 p.m. with open seating. A drawing will be held during intermission for CDs DVDs and Symphony concert tickets.
