The Yavapai County Education Service Agency (YCESA) in conjunction with the Arizona School Boards Association (ASBA) has designed a training that will help answer that question and many others.
Members of the public who have an interest in running for your local Governing Board in November 2012 are encouraged to attend. A four (4) hour training block has been created for “Newly Appointed Governing Board Members”. Those “Prospective Governing Board Candidates” are also welcome and encouraged to attend. We provide a certificate of training upon completion.
The agenda includes discussions about the Open Meeting Law, Board Policies, Ethical Boardsmanship, Governing Board Statutes including the Required and Discretionary Duties of Board Members, and some interesting “In Basket” exercises to open further discussion about best practices.
The next training will be held:
February 16, 2010 4:00 - 8:00 pm
Mountain Institute JTED District Office
3003 Centerpointe East Drive, Prescott, Az. 86301
From Highway 89, exit south on Granite Dells Parkway, south of the Prescott Airport

We recognize how important the position of a Governing Board Member is to the overall well being of our schools. A great majority of you have told us that gaining additional knowledge and understanding about your critical role and duties are paramount to your ultimate success. In that light, we hope to see you, as we can all learn from each other. If you have questions, please give us a call.
