Prescott, AZ: This holiday season marks the 11th year that The Palace Restaurant & Saloon is hosting The Palace Giving Tree, in cooperation with Catholic Charities of Prescott . The tree's branches are are decorated with "wish tags" - each tag includes a child's name, age and what that child wants or needs this Christmas. All children's names are provided by Catholic Charities, and visitors to The Palace are welcome to choose a tag from the tree, then return with a gift (either wrapped or unwrapped) for that child. The gifts are later delivered to Catholic Charities by Palace staff for distribution to the children's families.
“We’re so pleased to participate in this unique program," says Palace owner Dave Michaelson. "Our customers have shown tremendous support every year. Thanks to their generosity, we've been able to make Christmas something wonderful for so many local children who need our help.”
Michaelson notes that the need in 2009 is greater than ever before. “This year has been really hard on many good folks, and I know Catholic Charities has been overwhelmed with requests. We still have plenty of name tags on our tree, so we hope lots of people will stop in to see us to make their giving selections while they're downtown. Our goal is to fulfill every child's wish this year.”
That goal totals gift wishes for 46 area children, ranging in ages from 1 to 17. .
For every gift dropped off at The Palace before December 18th, donors will receive a thank-you coupon for 10% off either lunch or dinner at The Palace. The coupons are valid through March 2010.
