According to the GoFundMe site, "The proceeds will be deposited into a non profit bank account set up specifically for this purpose by friends and believers and ALL proceeds will be distributed to the families on August 31st, 2014."
The Prescott Film Festival gets underway today, starting with a special event at Harkins Theatre in Prescott Valley. There are two showings, one at 3:30 and one at 6:30.
This special event, shows American Mustang (in 3D) and the short film Wild Horses.
American Mustang is said to be "The story of a girl, a cowboy, and a wild horse," according to their website. It's a blend of documentary and narrative, focusing on the wild mustangs roaming the range in the American West. But, these days, those horses are being rounded up and captured.

Accompanying the American Mustang showing is a short film called Wild Horses, about an established photographer named Mills, who has been following a band of wild horses for years. When Mills is told that the band of horses faces government roundup, she returns to her hometown community in Nevada.
This year's film festival branches out in new directions. A live performance of Oxymorons with Ed Asner and Mark Rydell will take place Thursday, July 24 at 7:30, at the Yavapai College Performing Arts Center.
They will also be showing a sneak preview of One Chance, with Producer Michael Menchel in attendance on Friday, July 25.
Saturday, 'Jodorowsky's Dune,' will be shown, with author Alan Dean Foster as the special guest. There will also be a workshop called, 'Dune: Its Lasting Legacy.'
Other highlights of this year's Prescott Film Festival include several outstanding workshops from 'Screenwriting 1, Breaking In,' to Hollywood or AZ - Writing for Television.
And finally, for the first time ever, the Prescott Film Festival is featuring High School Student Short Films.
