Tell us about your campaign, what you do/don't support:

I support small business and small government.
If Given the opportunity , I want to help create a Government where residents are listened to and responsible fiscal stewardship is the norm, I want to help us use our strengths to encourage responsible Economic Development to make a brighter tomorrow.  If given the opportunity I will help us reduce spending, and encourage business growth.
Residents are listened to:

    • People/ businesses impacted by Council actions should have input in the Problem Solving Process before we legislate
    • We have so much wisdom from our retirees, to our Students- we need to use this better
    • We have many people who have become hopeless because they feel they aren’t being heard by Council- they need to be heard, and responded to
  •  Responsible fiscal stewardship is the “norm:”
    • Essential services should be our focus, and a good conservative approach can lead the way for the remaining issues that require Council’s attention and tax dollar support
    • When people have Other People’s money, why do they so often feel the need to spend it all?  We need a “small business approach” to spending- “don’t spend unless we have to”
      •  We do need to create a positive environment- make it easy to work with the city, provide good customer service, be consistent.
  •  We Focus on using our strengths to build a better tomorrow,
    • TARGETED Regional Economic Development, go after specific industries that need what Prescott uniquely has to offer.
    • Bring in the businesses that provide Prescott residents with what they need- livable wage jobs, benifits.
      • Our Marketable Strengths that bring businesses and dollars to Prescott include: Our beautiful environment- the great outdoors, and Higher  Education, the Arts (art shows, galleries, performing arts), Rodeo, Events and shows, sports and our Small Town sense of Community.
    • My experience working with others will help with a regional approach that works for Prescott.
  • We reduce spending, and encourage business growth
    • Focus on essential services, voter mandates, balancing the future budgets.
    • Work with staff to determine where we can reduce cost and where private enterprise can better manage activities “Manage by walking around,” and speaking with the people who know the situation best- the person who works it 8 hours a day. We need to treat city employees as an asset.
    • Work with local businesses when planning events and activities; improve this communication significantly
    • Look for ways to defer expenses for businesses- like impact fees for builders
    • Improve and streamline the process needed to work with the city departments: permits, licenses, etc
    • “Encouraging the right business” means seeking those businesses who want and need what we have to offer. It also means working with current businesses to create an environment where current business can flourish, and new business is eager to come.
